We are the parents of four adult children, and the grandparents of seven beautiful mokopuna. We moved to live in Bluff two years ago to reconnect with Keri’s marae, and her whakapapa here in Awarua. We know all about juggling different roles, driving to and from Invercargill to work, as well as working from our dining room table, and being distracted by the stunning views in Bluff.
In 2023 we decided we could create a better working space for our separate businesses and also make the facilities available to the community.
THE TARI IS THE RESULT
Dr Keri Milne-Ihimaera
DMDA
I have a doctorate in Māori Development and Advancement, and am an educator; a teacher, and a former school principal. I’ve been an Executive Director at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa, and a General Manager in a Charitable organisation. My extensive governance experience includes being a current member of the National Board of the Cancer Society, and a recently appointed member of the boards of Te Rūnanga o Awarua and WellSouth. I am also a member of the academic board of Ako Mātātupu/Teach First NZ and have previously been a long-term trustee for the Ngāti Hine Health Trust in Whangārei.
I have been working within my own education consultancy business, and in 2022/2023 have been in a part-time role at the Southern Institute of Technology as the General Manager of Māori Development.
In 2023 my focus is on expanding my business services and THE TARI is going to become the hub of those services for me.

I have a degree in Applied Social Services and a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Mental Health and Addiction Counselling. I have years of experience supporting whānau impacted by mental health and addiction. I also have a Postgraduate diploma in Bicultural Supervision. This qualification helps me to support others by offering cultural support, to individuals and groups.
In April 2021 when we made the move to Motupōhue/Bluff, I started work with Ngā Kete Mātauranga Pounamu Charitable Trust.
In 2023 I have taken up a position as team leader for Waihōpai Hauora. This has intentionally created space to further develop my own business, Toro Mai Services, and I will be using THE TARI two to three days a week.
